A typical NFL or college football teaser, for example, is six points. That means that you get to subtract six points the spread of a favorite and add six points to the spread of an underdog. For example, a -13 favorite would become -7 in a six-point teaser, while a +8 underdog would become +14.
There is, of course, a hook with teasers as the payout is reduced from the return paid on standard parlays. Numbers vary by sportsbook, but the price on a 6-point teaser is usually set between +150 and +180 on three-team bets. That means bettors will receive a $150 to $180 return on a $100 wager.
A teaser (or a “two-team teaser”) is a type of gambling bet that allows the bettor to combine his bets on two different games. The bettor can adjust the point spreads for the two games, but realizes a lower return on the bets in the event of a win.
Example Payouts
Football Teaser Payouts | ||

# of Selections | Payout Odds (6.0 Points) | Payout Odds (6.5 Points) |
5 | 9/2 | 4/1 |
6 | 6/1 | 11/2 |
7 | 10/1 | 9/1 |
What is the Problem with betting Teasers: Winning multiple games is tough and you are NOT being compensated for the risk. Getting 6 extra points is less than 1 TD, and you need to win 73% of the time to turn a small profit. 73% is hard to pull off with just an extra 6 points.
The odds on a 7-point tease is usually -140. That means a correct $140 teaser would pay out $100 in profit. Sometimes you’ll see discounted 7-point teasers at -130 or even -120.
To determine if a teaser is a better option than a straight bet, we need to know if those six additional points increases the win probability by 19.73% or not. The truth of the matter is that most teasers are sucker bets, because very few times will six points increase your win probability by 19.73%.
What happens if you push on a tease?
Any two-team teaser with a ‘Push’ or ‘No Action’ plus a win will be graded as ‘No Action’, and your risk amount refunded. Any two-team teaser with a loss will be graded as a ‘Loss’. 5. With the exception of ties, all wagers must win for the teaser to be considered a win.
On our special 3 team 10 point football or 7 point basketball teasers (sometimes known as Sweetheart teasers), odds are -120 (5/6) and ties lose. Only point spreads of the same sport may be placed in these special teasers.
If you’re new to sports betting, a two-team six-point teaser is a bet where you get to move the line SIX points in your favor on BOTH teams…but then both teams HAVE to cover those new spreads for you to win your bet. If you see a pair of 10-point favorites, you could move them both down to -4 in a two-teamer.
An NFL teaser bet is a series of connected bets that must all win for the bet to pay out (much like a parlay). But unlike parlays, you get the bonus of shifting the lines 6, 6.5 or 7 points in a direction that lowers risk.
Teasers are a type of parlay bet that can only include bets against the spread or on totals. Teasers allow bettors to adjust spreads in their favor in exchange for a smaller potential payout.
